Napoli to take late call on McTominay ahead of Fiorentina battle

Antonio Conte will make a late decision about Scott McTominoy's participation in Napoli's Serie A collision with Fiorentina on Sunday.

Mctominay is a great addition to the ranks of Napoli since his move from Manchester United in the summer, with seven goals in 29 performances in all competitions.

Indeed, no player has won more duels in the Serie A for Napoli than the Scotland International (137), but Conte's dependence on McTominay has received a costs.

Prior to the welcome of Fiorentina in the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, Conte said that McTominay was struggling with fatigue and could miss the game.

“(Mctominay) had an overload, a few days he trained a little less than the others. We have 24 hours and we will evaluate the best solution together with the boy,” he said.

“(Billy) Gilmour did great against Inter and I was clear with the boys, in the last 11, who deserves to play plays, there is no permanent place.

“There are 11 games, 11 fights, 11 finals, there are no credits.”

Napoli is second in the rankings, one point behind leaders Inter, even though she did not win in their last five league games.

They have signed their last two league games at home and the Partenopei could for the first time since January and February 2010 under Walter Mazzarri (four) three Series A Home Games in a row.

And Conte acknowledged the importance of returning to winning ways to keep their hope to lift the Scudetto alive.

“Every game we have to look for the three points. We have often passed, other times we have struggled more like in the past month in which we had four draw and a defeat,” said Conte.

“It is part of the path of a championship, and we have to work, restore everyone, try to make choices from all views. In some moments we have to be good, turning our teeth.”

This season, Napoli scored 43 league goals in 27 games, the least of each team in the top five.

Asked how they could improve their attacking output, be Conte on the profiles of the players in the team and said: “If you look at the statistics of the team, and you will not find many players with a CV with many goals, we cannot invent goals.

“We can work to increase the totals of a player, but if someone scores one or two goals a year, you cannot expect them to score 10. When your teams build, you have to place many ingredients.”
