One of the most memorable moments of the UFC career of Nate Diaz took place on this day in 2021.
Diaz has long been one of the biggest fan favorites in the sport of mixed martial arts, with enthusiastic fans in the Octagon and attracted many headlines for his actions outside.
With that in mind, the Stockton star is not a shortage of remarkable victories, leftovers and fights during his combat sports career. Among them is Diaz's upset victory over Conor McGregor, as well as countless interactions between the press conference that Tempers Flare saw Flare.
A more recent moment came to UFC 263 only four years ago. While Diaz was handy during the event, he did something again to ensure that his stock would rise alone in the defeat.
Nate Diaz fluctuated Leon Edwards, after one-sided UFC 263 fight
UFC 263, head by Israel Adesanya's second victory over Marvin Vettori, contained the first fight of Diaz in almost two years. He was no longer seen since the loss of a doctor for Jorge Masvidal in the UFC 244 Main Event in Madison Square Garden.
The Californian returned directly to the fire and shared the cage with the in-shape Leon Edwards, who would continue with the success of championship success in the UFC.
For the full five rounds, the British hunter established his dominance to be released on the Scorecards. But 'Rocky' did not remain perfect for the entire 25 minutes.
As the last minute approached, Diaz landed a brutal straight left hand that put Edwards on wobbly legs. The image of Diaz who points to his hurt opponent has fallen as one of the best photos in his long career.
After surviving to hear the last horn and having lifted his hand by a crooked decision, Edwards explained the late fear during an appearance on the block party podcast.
“24 minutes of education him,” said Edwards. “It was so easy that I was bored while I fought against him.
“Otherwise, let's say that if it were the first or second round, it would never have landed. The reason why it didn't land is because I was alert and sharp. I thought,” Okay, this fight is rather easy, it's at the last minute “, but then he caught that shot.”
Nate Diaz has a three-man Hitlist for his UFC referee
Diaz again participated in the UFC after the defeat against Edwards.
The resident of Stockton fought his contract on UFC 279 in September 2022, where he was originally set up to head against Khamzat Chimaev. After the weight problems of the Chechen, Diaz stood opposite Tony Ferguson instead and he submitted him.
Diaz has since put his trade in the boxing ring and lost to YouTuber Pugilist Jake Paul before he takes revenge on former UFC-Rival Masvidal.
Now, three years after his exit, the fan favorite has his sights on an octagonal return.
“I intend to go back to the UFC,” Diaz said at the HJR -Podcast. “If they have me, I would like to go back and f – who is someone there.
“When he is back,” Diaz added, when he was asked for a trilogy fight with McGregor. “Me and he certainly got an unfinished things. Must happen.”
