Netflix boss breaks silence after Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight crashed streamer and ‘pushed the limits of the internet itself’

While some people had trouble during Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, Netflix's co-CEO has described the event as “Off the charts.”

Netflix CEO talks about streaming issues between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson

On November 15, stars from two very different generations went head-to-head, with Jake Paul claiming a unanimous decision victory over Mike Tyson.

Rightly or wrongly, the fight caught the attention of fans around the world, with viewers heading to Netflix to watch the action.

While some had a smooth viewing experience, others struggled and suffered from extreme freezing issues.

Speaking at the UBS conference in New York on December 10, Ted Sarandos discussed the technical challenges of streaming for such a large audience.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he explained: “We were pushing [internet service provider]every ISP in the world, up to the limits of its own capacity. That evening we emphasized the limits of the internet itself.

“So we had a control room in Silicon Valley redesigning the entire internet to preserve it during this fight because of the unprecedented demand that was happening.”

He added: “It's absolutely phenomenal. It's a Super Bowl-like crowd that we were able to attract for this fight. This is a combination of our content team who recognized this was going to be something, our marketing and publicity teams and our social media teams, and everyone who made it something you won't miss, wherever you were in the world.

“That night, a lot of records were set for a company that went bankrupt about a year and a half earlier during the 'Love Is Blind' reunion. So that is a big positive trajectory in a very short time.”

Tyson isn't the only legend of the sport Paul has feuded with lately, with another former world champion recently firing shots at the YouTuber.

When he realized the 27-year-old was ranked higher than him on Undisputed, he became downright furious.

That's why he took to social media to express his frustrations.
