Arsenal completed the signing of Ebereechi Eze – grabbed him out of the grip of Tottenham – and paraded him on Saturday evening for the Emirates for his potential debut next weekend
Gary Neville claims that the way in which Arsenal Ebereechi landed for Rivals Tottenham was “a spectacular piece of company”.
The wing player in England was introduced on Saturday evening in the audience of Emirates when he walked away before they hammered Leeds into a triumphant reception. Eze put on an Arsenal shirt with no. 10 at the back after his move to North London was confirmed.
His exit from Crystal Palace would probably have looked like, but it seemed as if he went to Tottenham after they had negotiated the deal of the deal, but had not completed it. The Eagles wanted to keep it off, so that Eze could play in their European qualification earlier this week.
But Arsenal made a last ditch call to land the winger and Palace accepted their offer with the player who always preferred a move to the Emirates, since he was a youth fan of the club.
He has recently been one of the most impressive artists in the Premier League and would have been a huge addition to every club, but he will now improve the title of Arsenal while leaving Tottenham to digest an almost miss in the transfer market.
Neville said on Sky Sports: “It was a spectacular piece of company to steal the way of Spurs in the way they did. It will be interesting to see where Eze is playing. Saka is on the right, Gyokeres will play in the front. Will he play in the role of Odegard or will he go on the left and the left side?”
The arrival of Eze gives Mikel Arteta even more options. Noni Madueke was still a summer purchases and will insist on a place in a front three with Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri and Gabriel Martinelli. Viktor Gyokeres will lead the line and scored twice on his home debut on Saturday.
The 27-year-old cost the Gunners £ 67.5 million and could make his debut in the crunch collision of next weekend in Liverpool. Two years ago, Eze scored the only goal in Anfield when Palace achieved a shock victory and Arteta believes that he will give them a new look in the attack.
He said: “We are absolutely pleased to bring Ebereechi to Arsenal. He is a powerful and exciting player who will give us a new dimension in our attacking game. What stands out as much as his talent and intelligence as a player is the way he has worked hard during his career to get where he is today.”
