Ryan Gravenberch will join Jeremie Frimpong in Anfield this season, and Liverpool's midfielder has lifted the lid when giving the full-back advice on what to expect from the design of Arne Slot
Ryan Gravenberch has explained that he shared a FaceTime call with Jeremie Frimpong before the full-back signed for Liverpool. The pair of Dutch people have already shared the field for their nation and will now be affiliated with the hope of defending the title of the Reds Premier League in 2025/26.
But before Frimpong committed his future in Liverpool, he shared a chat about the club with Gravenberch. The midfielder said about the summer signs of Arne Slot so far: “Jeremia, I clearly know him for a long time, so I have a really good relationship with him. So I am really happy that he is here.”
He added: “We had a small facetime [before he signed]. We spoke to each other and he asked me about Liverpool and everything and I gave him really good advice! I'm glad he is here. “
In the summer of 2023, Gravenberch joined Liverpool in a £ 34.2 million deal with Bayern Munich and soon became part of the plans of Jurgen Klopp – 26 performances in his first season. Last season, they turned out to be even more fruitful for the 23-year-old, who only missed one Premier League collision for Liverpool and played an important role in the club that won the title.
In the meantime, Frimpong was recruited this summer, where the manager would like to find a suitable replacement for a departing Trent Alexander-Arnold who joins Real Madrid before the Club World Cup. As a result, his £ 29.5 million release clause was activated with Bayer Leverkusen and since then he has enjoyed his time on Merseyside.
However, Frimpong is not the only controversial signing that Liverpool has acquired this summer. The club also concluded a £ 40 million deal with Bournemouth for left back Milos Kerkez, before the services of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike were obtained in a £ 79 million movement.
Slot's tent Signing, however, comes in the form of Florian Wirtz, so that the club's record transfer is made to bring the attacking midfielder on board Leverkusen for an amazing £ 116 million last month. And Gravenberch showered the former Bundesliga star with praise when he joined the ranks of Anfield.
He said: “I think everyone knows Florian and here too in training he is a really good player: technical, really good vision, so I am really happy that he is here and I can't wait until the season starts playing with him.”
It is that Liverpool is currently in the midst of a pre-season tour through Hong Kong and Japan, while they are preparing for their Premier League campaign from 2025/26. The Reds started their preparations for the new season with a 3-1 win over Preston North End in Deepdale on July 13, before he won a 5-0 win over Stoke City in the AXA Training Center a week later.
A 4-2 loss for AC Milan then followed in the Kai Tak Stadium, with the next match of Liverpool in the form of a friendly with Yokohama FC at the Nissan Stadium on Wednesday. On their return, Liverpool will host Athletic Club in Anfield on 4 August and will be confronted for Crystal Palace in Wembley six days later for the Community Shield.
Their season opener with Bournemouth then takes place on 15 August on a home floor. Gravenberch outlines his goals for the new season and said: “To make it a very nice season again. My goals are like last season, I just want to be there for the team and show myself again and be able to be consistent as I can.”
