The new signing of Manchester City Nico Gonzalez has revealed how his move to Etihad was a dream that came out for his father – who had mapped his son's move to the club years ago.
Gonzalez sealed a relocation of £ 50 million to the city of FC Porto on Deadline Day to further stimulate Pep Guardiola's midfield options after losing Rodri for a large part of the season.
City took their expenses to £ 180 million in January when Gonzalez arrived next to Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis.
Gonzalez has enjoyed an impressive career so far after he had come through the Academy in Barcelona before he excelled in FC Porto, but the player himself revealed that his father was adding them to join the city after working earlier as working as A coach under 18 at the club.
He said that his father Fran had recommended the city and football club as a perfect place for his growth and development, which made his decision much easier after he was approached by the Sky Blues.
Gonzalez told the official website of the city: “He was here [at City] Two years. That is why he has always recommended that if I got the chance, I would come here.
“He always talks so well about Manchester, the city and clearly the team. He told me that I will enjoy this a lot here and I will be so happy here. He loved to live here and I even visited once, And I really enjoyed city.
“He always told me that to come here would be the best. Even a few years ago he always said he wanted me to play here! So now he is so happy and I am proud.”
Gonzalez has been one of the top players in the Portuguese Primeira Liga this season after making 17 starts, scored five times and assisted three goals.
After explaining his decision to become a member of City, he said that the chance of playing under manager Guardiola was an important factor. He said: “When a team like Manchester City wants you – the best team in the past 10 years – you have no option than to participate,” he told Club Media.
“Of course work with [Guardiola] Will be incredible. Everyone with whom I spoke about him always talks so well and I think I can reach my full potential and become the best player I can be. “
