New Man Utd boss Amorim believes his system is ‘perfect’ for Mount

Ruben Amorim has expressed his “love” for Mason Mount as he prepares to take charge of his first game as Manchester United head coach.

Mount was hampered by injury during his time at United, having made just seven appearances for the club in the league and contributing just one goal.

Yet he scored 27 goals, 22 assists and created 227 chances in 129 appearances at Chelsea. He will hope that the arrival of his new boss will help him regain this form.

Amorim arrived in Manchester on November 11 and having had time to get to know a new squad during the international break, he is excited about what Mount can bring to the Red Devils.

“Mason Mount… I gotta tell you, I love that kid. You can see in his eyes that he wants this so badly. This is the most important thing,” he said at a news conference.

“He played in this system, so it's perfect for him. I have two positions for Mount, so he should be very happy!

The England midfielder was once regarded as one of England's most exciting talents after impressing in the capital, but has floundered in his limited performances at United, with just ten chances created in seventeen games.

But Erik ten Hag's departure could mean a turnaround in the fortunes of United and Mount.

After an unbeaten run under interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, Amorim will take over for the first time in the Premier League against Ipswich Town on Sunday.
