Tottenham made a double shirt number announcement on Tuesday afternoon after signing Joao Palhinha this summer.
Spurs confirmed this weekend that they had drawn the former Fulham midfielder on loan with an option to buy.
The Portuguese international arrives with a wealth of top experience under his belt, after having enjoyed Portugal, Germany and England in recent years, and the club confirmed which song he will take on Tuesday afternoon.
What makes the number six so special?
Palhinha will put on the number six at the back of his shirt after he decided to take the vacant team number after the decision of Radu Dragusin to switch to number three for the new campaign.
The midfielder wore 16 at Bayern after wearing 26 in Fulham and explained why the number six should stay with him during his career.
“I always try to choose a song with a six – sometimes it is not available, but since I started my career, it was a song I had with me because of my family.
“It means a lot for me because of my grandfather … It is the day he left our family, and because my grandfather died, when I have a look, many important things happened on this day, with the number six.”
The number six will stay with him for life
For three seasons with Sporting B, Palhinha was wearing shirt numbers 86 and 66. He explained more about his superstition and revealed why he wanted to keep the number by his side because of the special meaning.
“I can remember my first goal … everything that has been important in my career – not only the career, but also in other things – the number six have the number six.
“I am a bit superstitious and I always believe that this song has an important meaning for me and my family, and this is why I want to keep the song with me on the shirt.”
Palhinha is ready for his debut
The 30-year-old was able to make his debut for Spurs against his parent club on Thursday, while the two parties meet in Germany for a pre-season-friendly, and he says he can't wait to proudly wear his song for his new side.
“I feel that this song represents me. I have been wearing it in the national team for three years, and I feel that it just really represents who I am – someone who is always ready to give everything for the team.
“Now I am really proud to wear it in North Londs.”
