Marcus Rashford could be given an escape route from his nightmare at Manchester United by German club Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund are believed to be one of the few European clubs willing to sign Rashford on loan until the end of the season after the forward was banned by United boss Ruben Amorim.
Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus, as well as several Premier League clubs, have also expressed interest in signing Rashford on loan for the remainder of the season.
Although United would prefer a permanent sale of Rashford worth £40m, they accept that this is unlikely to happen in the January transfer window, with the summer before that being the best option.
Rashford has been left out of five of United's last six matchday squads since being dropped from the Manchester derby on December 15 at the Etihad Stadium, which Amorim's side won 2-1.
Although Amorim claimed the decision to omit Rashford was not a disciplinary issue, the 27-year-old has not played for United since and was an unused substitute in their 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle.
Rashford responded to his omission from the derby by giving an interview in which he expressed his desire for “a new challenge”, a revelation which is said to be the reason for his continued exile.
United and Dortmund have worked together on deals in the past, most recently this time last year when Jadon Sancho – banned by then boss Erik ten Hag – was loaned out to the Bundesliga for the rest of the season.
Rashford could make the same move as Sancho, with the England international unlikely to get the playing time he wants if he were to remain at United when the window closes on February 3.
If United are to approve a loan deal for Rashford, the club that acquires him would have to cover half of his weekly wages, which is likely to prove a potential barrier to a deal given his exorbitant salary.
Rashford has already rejected three offers to move to the Saudi Pro League, where he would have more than doubled his salary to £35m. boss Thomas Tuchel.
