Match report
Brennan Johnson and Harvey Barnes scored the goals, but the meaning of this friendly was aimed at the knowledge that the time of Son at Spurs ends after his announcement that he “needs a new environment after a decade with the club”.
After finally having ended his trophy-dried with Tottenham by accepting them to Europa League Glory in May, this competition in his native South Korea marked the dream that was sent for Son and he was in the heart of everything that happened, including a ceremonial kick-off.
Johnson then paid tribute to Son by borrowing his trademark target celebration when his bent strike Nick Pope defeated just after the three minutes. Spurs got the chance to double the lead shortly thereafter, but Pope denied Mathys Tel when he cleaned.
Newcastle bore its own threat, Joelinton went twice before Barnes cut in from the left wing and shot with the right foot behind Antonin Kinsky in the nearby post of the keeper. But the big moment in the game came just after the hour.
When Son was replaced by Mohammed Kudus, the game came to a halt when players from both parties wanted him best, while the supporters – family among them – greet the hugely 33 -year -old winger while the tears were flowing over his face.
Neither of the two parties could find a winner, but the game ended in a flat tone with Son among those involved when Maddison got the ball off the ball after an attempt to turn around. The Spurs Pelenmaker was stretched and covered his face in disappointment.
