Newcastle wants to bring Bilal El Khannouss to St James' Park as Eddie Howe attacking reinforcements, with the Foxes midfielder also on the Radar of Leeds United
Newcastle is said to be planning to surpass Leeds in the race to sign Leicester's star -midfielder Bilal El Khannouss. The magpies have pinched different goals this summer, but are now planning their own hijacking.
The release clause from El Khannouss is approximately £ 24.5 million and Newcastle is 'ready' to activate it. Eddie Howe has had a challenging summer on the transfer market, in which Talisman Alexander Isak looks at Liverpool. The club has also missed various high-profile goals for their Premier League rivals.
Newcastle -Manager Howe now wants to turn the tide and spend a blow to Leeds by bringing the Moroccan international, who also attracted Arsenal to St James' park this summer.
Leicester acquired El Khannouss for £ 19.5 million from the Belgian side Genk last summer, but he could be on his way due to a contract clause that can be activated after the Leicester relegation from the Premier League last season, according to the Telegraph.
Leeds -Baas Daniel Farke had shown an interest in the attacking midfielder, but with the clause of the player who expires this week, the Magpies rise their efforts to secure the signature of El Khannouss for the whites.
El Khannouss played the full 90 minutes of Leicester's victory over Sheffield United in the first match of the championship season. The 21-year-old took care of both assists for the goals of Jannik Vestergaard and Wout Faes in the 2-1 win, De Express reports.
Howe is on a mission to strengthen his attacking options this summer, and El Khannouss, who stood out for Leicester last year, could be a smart acquisition.
Newcastle has already missed the boat on different goals this summer. Hugo Ekitike, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko were all on the radar of the Magpies, but Ekitike ended up in Liverpool while Mbeumo, Cunha and Sesko all chose Old Trafford.
The increased interest of the tone in El Khannouss comes as Isak, 25, reportedly told the club that he no longer wants to play for them. The bomb is amid a strong interest from Liverpool, who have already had an offer of £ 110 million for the Swedish star.
Isak moved to Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 and has since delivered 54 goals in 86 Premier League matches. He was the second highest score of the competition last season and also found the back of the net in the last victory of Newcastle in the Carabao Cup on Liverpool.
However, he has been absent in the activities for the Newcastle season and was also omitted from the Tour Far East Tour of the club. Isak currently trains separately from his teammates in England after having started his former club, Sociedad.
As reported by athletics, ISAK, who is left for three years on his contract, is reportedly not going to join the magpie and is supposed to have left his home in Newcastle.
The team of Howe will start their Premier League season against Aston Villa this Saturday, and it is generally expected that Isak will not be involved in the promotion.
