Newcastle United has failed a number of their transfer activities this summer while they deal with the situation of Alexander Isak, but a breakthrough appears close by
Newcastle United comes in on Wolves star Jorgen Strand Larsen while their rush -hour research seems to be approaching. The magpies have until Monday to add to their team, with all this against the background of uncertainty about the future of Alexander Isak.
Isak still seems convinced that he played his last Newcastle match in the midst of Liverpool interest, but work has been done to keep him on board. The last attempt was seen by some as a final attempt, where co-owner Jamie Reuben joins a PIF delegation when visiting the Swedish striker in his house.
Newcastle is Winless in two league matches, despite a spicy second half display against Liverpool on Monday. They fought back from 2-0 with 10 men, and with Isak again absent in the team, before admitting a final gasp winner from Rio Ngumoha.
Hugo Ekitike was also one of the Liverpool scorers, who had chosen the Reds above the magpies earlier in the summer. However, Newcastle hope to be more lucky with Strand Larsen, and former Norway -striker Jan Aage Fjortoft believes that his countryman will end up on Tyneside.
A first range of £ 50 million was knocked back by Wolves, in which De Telegraaf suggests that the Molineux club will try to prevent interest with a new and improved contract. According to Fjortoft, however, an improved bid is on hands and should be sufficient for the side of Vitor Pereira to say yes.
If Strand Larsen continues, this would bring the summer recordings of Wolves above £ 150 million. Matheus Cunha came to Manchester United for £ 62.5 million at the beginning of the summer, while Rayan Ait is in Manchester City and smaller sales – including outputs for people like Goncalo Geedes and Tom King – were also completed.
Cunha and Strand Larsen were responsible for 29 of the 54 league goals of Wolves previous term, with the latter completing a summer movement of £ 23 million from Celta Vigo after his successful loan. The frontman of Norway scored 14 goals in 35 performances, equal to the best competition -backing of his career.
Newcastle's hard -fought defeat on Monday was extra costs. Joelinton, Sandro Tonali and Fabian Schar were all forced with injuries, while Anthony Gordon will serve a ban after he had shown a straight red card by referee Simon Hooper.
“I don't know with Joe and Sandro, it doesn't look good when a player comes off, especially because both looked a little pain, they would be a huge blow to us if they are not available,” Manager Eddie Howe told matches of the day. “Anthony will be suspended and Fabian had a concussion, so not good.”
When Isak finally leaves, Strand Larsen may not be the only new attacker to arrive. Yoane Wissa remains a target, although the Congolese attacker was noticed in Brentford training last week.
