Newcastle Defender Lewis Hall will miss the Carabao Cup final in another blow for Eddie Howe, Mail Sport can reveal.
It means that the magpie boss has lost its first choice to mate the left side in the space of just a few days, after the red card of Anthony Gordon had ruled him out of the Wembley-Date with Liverpool during the weekend.
Hall missed the 2-1 FA Cup defeat on Sunday by Brighton -in which Gordon was sent -after collecting an ankle problem in the 2-0 loss in Liverpool last Wednesday.
We understand that the 20-year-old has seen a specialist and the news is not good.
The full size of his absence will be known in the coming days, but he will not be available for the final on March 16.
Hall is said to have been instructed to stop Mo Salah at Wembley, and his injury means that Tino Livramento will rise against the Egyptian.
It also denies Hall a likely place in the first English team of Thomas Tuchel for the world cup qualifications against Albania and Latvia this month.
He debuted under Tuchel in Chelsea in 2022.
