Nick Diaz Faceeplant Ko'd Robbie Lawler 17 years before he disappoints Rematch

Although the popular welter weight never experienced a title profit in the UFC, he was involved in some of the greatest fights in the history of the promotion and he scored some big wins.

One was when he and Robbie Lawler met at UFC 47 on 2 April 2004. Five fights in his UFC career, Lawler has shown himself as an extremely promising prospect in the sport that went 4-1.

He was then linked to Diaz, who had fought under the UFC banner only once and beat Jeremy Jackson.

Diaz immediately came out to put the pace on Lawler and let him fight against his hindvoot. Only 40 seconds in the fight made the native Stockton 'ruthless' fall with a fast check hook.

However, it was in round two when Diaz scored a brutal face plant Ko after landing a common right -hand side to the chin of Lawler.

That was not the last time that the two would meet in the UFC -Oachthoek, although, like 17 years later at UFC 266, the two fought in a controversial rematch.

It marked the first fight of Diaz in more than 16 years and he came out of shape in his return, which led to the fan base worries.

Lawler then scored the finish in round three, which led to calls for Diaz to officially retire.

Although it seemed more than likely that Diaz would retire after his loss for Lawler, he actually booked to fight Vicente Luque on UFC 310 but withdrew due to health problems.

Not long after, videos from Diaz started to appear online of him that apparently set the grass on fire while he was on the side of the road.

Nevertheless, his teammate recently gave a positive update about Nick's health, who naturally brought joy to the UFC fans.
