Nico Williams sets deadline for decision on his future amid Arsenal and Barcelona links

Athletic Club wing player Nico Williams was the subject of the biggest Transfersaga in Spain last summer, with Barcelona chasing him violently for a few weeks. The headlines dominate from before Euro 2024, the 21-year-old is not going through a similar Saga this summer.

The Basque wing player is still on the radar of a number of European top clubs this summer. Although Bayern Munich seems to have stopped the race for his services this summer, and Paris Saint-Germain now has signed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Williams will not have a shortage of offers. Liverpool and Chelsea are both cited as potential destinations, but the two parties that are most connected are Barcelona and Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta is an important fan of Williams, while he would stay out of his Basque revolution with the additions of the athletic wing player and Martin Zubimendi on their rivals continue Real Sociedad. Barcelona's director Voetbaldeco prefers Luis Diaz from Liverpool, but the Blaugrana still love Williams.

According to Sport, Williams has set a deadline with which he wants to solve his future. Every club that tries to sign him has to pay Athletic his release clause of € 60 million, but he likes to be done in one way or another by July 15, so that he can enjoy a full preseason with athletics or a new club.

It was recently reported that Barcelona also wanted to ensure that the deal was previously closed instead of later and will communicate with Williams in advance whether they can do the deal financially. The Blaugrana are back in a sticky situation with regard to their salary limit, in the midst of uncertainty about the € 100 million deal for the lease of 475 VIP chairs in Camp Nou. Barcelona has assured that this will not be a problem, but their ability to make large signing sessions this summer probably depends on it.
