No fewer than nine senior players were able to leave Liverpool at the end of the first season of Arne Slot at the helm.
The Reds have so far enjoyed a Dream 2024-25 campaign under lock, which she has in pole position to win both the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.
But whatever the coming months can bring, it seems that the winds of change will blow through Anfield this summer. And that could give the Dutchman the opportunity to give his own stamp on the play team he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.
Trent Alexander -Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are all without contract in the summer and can leave – and they can be accompanied by numerous other big names.
Alexander-Arnold is fervently chased by Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are increasingly confident that the right back to the Bernabeu will move and join close Pal Jude Bellingham. He is ready to increase his current head -salary and to give a huge signing bonus when he moves to the Spanish capital.
Salah and Van Dijk are currently supposed to stay more often after they have offered new deals from the Reds, although nothing has been agreed as it looks now. Salah is still being pursued by the Saudi Pro League, while a number of European clubs keep an eye on Van Dijk's situation. However, it is believed that the preferred option of both is to stay.
It can be a different story for Darwin Nunez, who has passed a difficult season. The Uruguayan striker was called up for his 'unacceptable' working speed by Slot after he had dropped his head during the recent collision against Aston Villa and, like Salah, a top goal for ambitious clubs in the Saudi Pro League. If Liverpool can earn their money back on their No. 9, which is not the first choice under lock, they can very well cash in.
Harvey Elliott and Joe Gomez are two players who have struggled this term for the first team and may be inclined to look for opportunities elsewhere. Gomez is the fourth choice in the middle, behind Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Jarrell Quansah.
Elliott is impressed when he gets the chance to play, but he wants to start more games and his desired central midfield position is currently blocked on the road. It is interesting that he could become the target if a Florian Wirtz replacement by Bayer Leverkusen – Wirtz is the most important target of Bayern Munich, but Manchester City and Liverpool themselves are also interested – with Brighton and Borussia Dortmund also potential destinations for Elliott.
Konate's situation is also under discussion. He is in the last 18 months of his deal and Paris Saint-Germain makes Overtures to bring him back to France. Liverpool bosses want him to sign a new deal, but if he doesn't, they must make a decision to keep him until the end of his contract – and possibly leave for nothing – or sell it now.
Caoimhin Kelleher is another team player who is expected to leave with Giorgi Mhallashvili incoming. Wataru Endo is another potential outgoing, although Slot is a big fan of the Japanese midfielder and his professionalism.
His situation will be determined by whether Endo is happy with playing second violin.
