On May 16, Argentinian media -Outlet TYC Sports reported that contract renewal interviews between Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr have been suspended.
According to the report, 40-year-old Ronaldo Al Nassr did not help to win big trophies since he came to the club in January 2023. Moreover, the performance of the team did not meet expectations this season, and the management of the club is reportedly disappointed about Ronaldo's contributions.
TYC Sports states that after losing in the Saudi Super Cup, the King's Cup and the AFC Champions League Elite Competition, and with the team also from the fight for the competition title, the management of Al Nassr started with the future of Ronaldo with the club. Now, with only 45 days over his contract, they have decided to suspend innovation negotiations.
The Argentinian Outlet also claims that Ronaldo has now lived in Saudi Arabia for more than two years, which means that he is eligible for certain tax benefits – a factor that can be an important reason for the jammed contract discussions.
