Conor McGregor continues to claim he and Logan Paul will split a $500 million purse for a fight in India next year.
The former two-weight UFC champion posted another tweet about the upcoming fight, mentioning a location and the news that their purses would both be a quarter of a billion dollars. This claim started from a troll account on social media, but has now gained momentum following McGregor's retweet.
And even his own news channel The Mac Life has shared the figures and details, with the Irishman contributing to the post to share with his more than 47 million followers. However, one UFC legend believes this claim is untrue.
Conor McGregor spreads a fake report claiming he and Logan Paul will make $500 million for a fight
Over the weekend, a troll account on The account claims to be former TalkSPORT editor Michael Benson, who had an infamous X-page before selling it to The Ring Magazine.
The user also said that the fight was part of a marketing campaign for a fictional tourism campaign 'Visit India' and would take place at the Wankhede cricket stadium. However, they appear to be made up claims.
This didn't stop McGregor from re-sharing the 'news', causing it to spread like wildfire. And his media outlet The Mac Life even picked it up, without citing any source as to where the information came from, leading to even more widespread reporting.
Conor McGregor kicked off Logan Paul's fight against rumors by announcing 'tentative agreements'
While it is true that there is a spat during preliminary talks between the two sides, funded by the Ambani family in India, it is unclear where these talks stand. Paul is currently preparing for his return to WWE, while McGregor is under contract with the UFC.
In a tweet earlier this month, McGregor shut down rumors that he was about to meet Ilia Topuria, but noted that he was focused on a return to boxing. He fought Floyd Mayweather in the ring in 2017 and has had a number of secret exhibitions at his gym Crumlin Boxing Club, but has been exclusively MMA since then.

“The rumors of a fight with Topurio are false,” McGregor wrote at the time. “I have made preliminary arrangements with the Ambani family to meet Logan Paul at a boxing exhibition in India. I agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”
The social media star has remained coy since McGregor's tweet, but responded by sharing an eyes emoji with a post about the fight, but otherwise remained mum on the rumours.
Chael Sonnen hits back at Conor McGregor's claim
And one man calling out McGregor's antics is former middleweight and light-heavyweight title contender Chael Sonnen. Not one to shy away from bending the truth in his own career, 'the bad guy' knows a sham when he sees one, and said so on his YouTube channel last night.
“There is a very great former Mixed Martial Arts champion,” Sonnen began. 'He's a big star, his name is Conor McGregor. He claims he is going to get $250 million to box Logan Paul in India for a billionaire investor who wants to bring attention and tourism to India.”
Sonnen then talked about a similar hoax story that claimed two-time heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury would come to the cage looking for a rematch with Francis Ngannou. He noted that McGregor's story seemed to have more views and involvement.
“Oddly enough, more people have clicked on, engaged with and commented on Conor's version,” he continued. “Of which not a single word is true. You have to understand that Conor is not boxing [Logan] Paul, there is no billionaire in India who wants to persuade people and change tourism.
“That is something that is done exclusively by one government and that government does it in one place, which is in the Middle East. And third, there's no $250 million check, so it went straight to the joke list.”
