Nottingham Forest 1-0 Ipswich: Chris Wood’s record-equalling goal moves Forest up to sixth in Premier League
Chris Wood became Nottingham Forest's joint top scorer in the Premier League, with his second-half penalty earning them a 1–0 home win over Ipswich.
The New Zealand international fired home from the spot in the 50th minute to equal Bryan Roy's club record of 24 goals in the competition.
Wood's eighth league goal of the season – only Erling Haaland (12) and Mohamed Salah (10) have scored more – lifted Forest to victory as they moved to sixth in the table, level with fourth-placed Chelsea .
Ipswich came close to an opener twice in the first half when Forest defender Ola Aina curled Cameron Burgess' header off the line in the 23rd minute, before Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels saved well from Omari Hutchinson's shot ten minutes later.
But Forest started the second half quickly and were rewarded with a penalty when Sammie Szmodics brought down Jota Silva and Wood then hammered the home side into the lead.
Ipswich, who needed a fine save from Arijanet Muric from Murillo's header to avoid falling further behind, failed to stage a comeback in a disappointing second-half performance as they managed just one shot on target .
The defeat for Kieran McKenna's side ends their three-match unbeaten run and leaves them in the relegation zone as they slide to the second bottom.
