Nottingham Forest gave a huge Chris Wood-Klap on Saturday for their FA Cup quarter-final collision with Brighton.
If they beat the seagulls and make the semi-final, the side of Nuno Espirito Santo have the chance to log the best FA Cup finish from Forest, because they experienced an extra-time defeat in the 1991 final.
The last time Forest reached the quarterfinals of the FA Cup was in 2021-22, when they finished fourth in the championship table and promoted to the Premier League via the play-offs.
This season Forest have not been the beneficiaries of the 'magic of the cup'. Instead, their versions were symptomatic for their form in the Premier League, where they are third in the table and probably qualify for the Champions League.
Wood, 33, led the attack of Forest in 2024-25 and scored 18 goals in the competition-de fourth of each player, behind only Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak.
But the starman of Forest will be absent for the huge FA Cup collision this weekend after he was removed early on Monday in the second half of the world cup qualification of New -Zealand against New -Caledonia, after a hip injury.
Nuno confirmed that Bos is waiting for the results of Wood's hip scan to offer a clearer timeline about his recovery.
“He went for a scan today (Thursday), we are still waiting,” said the Portuguese boss. 'He went to a specialist for the scan, so we are waiting for the information.
“He will not be available for this game (against Brighton). He fell very hard on his hip and there is some pain there, so we have to wait.
In addition to Wood, Forest without Paraguaya wing player, Ramon Sosa, who has scored twice and this season has offered one assist for them in the FA Cup.
Nuno added: 'Every time we have an international break players who come back in different circumstances, so we have to judge them and many of them have arrived today. We wait tomorrow for (Ramon) Sosa, then we can judge them. '
After the injury on his right hip, wood remained optimistic that the problem is not too serious.
“That is where the pain is at the moment (right hip),” Wood told reporters on Monday.
“I felt it on that side, so I will have it checked and hopefully it is nothing too big and hopefully it is just impact.”
