Manchester United -boss Ruben Amorim has confirmed that attacker Joshua Zirkzee will miss the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury.
Zirkzee stumbled to Newcastle last weekend during the 4-1 defeat and was visibly upset when he was helped off the field.
“He is out for the season,” Amorim said in his press conference prior to Lyon in the second stage of the quarterfinals of the Europa League on Thursday. “He will no longer play this season, let's prepare him for the next one.
“It is difficult, he improved in every aspect of the game. It is difficult for every player, but he must be ready to recover.”
Amorim also revealed that Andre Onana returns to the starting XI for Lyon's visit. The keeper was dropped for the defeat against Newcastle after a disastrous version in the first stage against the French side, which he became engaged in a public spit with Lyon – Middender – and former United Player – Nemanja Matic.
Altay Bayindir, however, was just as bad at admitting four times against Newcastle, which means that Onana will regain the No 1 shirt on Thursday.
