Ángel Di Maria has registered as a new Rosario Central player, back to his boys' club in Argentina. After a fantastic international career, World Cup winner Di Maria returns home.
“Our history has more pages together to write. Welcome at home,” said the Rosario -based club posted on X.
After a successful career in Europe, “El Fideo” will return to the club where it all started.
The 37-year-old Di Maria, who retired last year from international football, started his career at Rosario Central in 2005 before he came to Benfica in 2007.
He then moved to the Spanish giants Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, before he came to Benfica again in 2023.
Di Maria won 30 titles during his time in Europe, together with six international awards at Argentina, including two Copa America -Titels, the World Cup 2022 and the 2008 Olympic Games.
The winger will join Rosario Central after the participation of Benfica to the club World Cup of next month in the United States, where the Portuguese club is in group C next to Bayern Munich, Boca Juniors and Auckland City.
Di Maria started his professional career at Rosario Central. Played there from 1992-2007. Now he is back. 👏
