Barcelona:
Barcelona and Ronald Araujo have agreed to an extension of the player's contract, tying him to the club until June 30, 2031.
The centre-back put pen to paper on Thursday at an event where he was joined by club president Joan Laporta; first vice president Rafa Yuste; and sports director Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco”.
Winner in defense
Born on March 7, 1999, Araujo came to FC Barcelona in the summer of 2018 from Boston River, Montevideo, starting at Barça B, but already with the idea of moving him up to the senior team. He made his official debut on 6 October 2019 in a match at home to Sevilla, and was included as a full-time member of the squad from the 2020/21 season.
His winning mentality and superior defensive skills quickly made him a fan favorite, and he is now regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the world. Not only that, but he has also proven his worth as a full-back.
He made 154 appearances for the first team, scoring eight goals and providing six assists, which is an excellent record for a defender. His titles include a Liga and a Copa del Rey, while he has been promoted to second captain this season.
