Mariona Caldentey of Arsenal was named the Women's Super League player of the season during the Inaugural Women's Professional Game Awards on Sunday.
The event was organized by the Professional Leagues Limited of the women and is the first of its kind that those in the WSL and Women's Championship honor.
Awards were voted by the football writers 'association and football supporters' Association, with midfielder Caldentey the very first receiver of the main prize.
The Spain International enjoyed an impressive season in which she played in 21 of Arsenal's 22 League matches, scored nine goals, performed its expected goals (XG) against 2.69 better and five helped.

The most recent goal from Caldentey came on the last day of the season in a 4-3 victory over Manchester United, in which she ended the season with six goals in her last 10 league games.
After coming out of Barcelona in July last year, she settled quickly and played more minutes (1,774) than any other Arsenal player, while she is also second for great opportunities in the WSL (13), behind teammate Katie McCabe (16).
Moreover, the 29-year-old impression made in Europe, which scored seven times in Arsenal's Run to the final, where they will be confronted opposite Barcelona on 24 May.
Elsewhere during the award ceremony, Vivianne Miedema van Manchester City won the goal of the season for her efforts against Aston Villa, while Shekira Martinez of West Ham United won the Rising Star Award after 10 goals in 12 performances.
She finished Joint-Second in the Golden Boot Race behind Alessia Russo and Khadija Shaw, both of which yielded 12 goals this period.
