OFFICIAL: Barcelona confirm Balde injury as recovery timeline is revealed

Alejandro Balde was forced during Saturday's victory in Leganes, and now Barcelona has confirmed his injury less than 24 hours later.

Balde withdrew during the first half of the match in Butarque, which was won by Barcelona after its own goal in the second period. There were fear that the 21-year-old defender would be out for a long-term period, which is the latter that the Catalans need in the midst of a debilitating luminaire schedule, and this now seems to be the case.

According to an official statement about X, Barcelona confirmed that it was a hamstring injury that rose against Leganes.

“Tests performed on Sunday morning on the first team player Alejandro Bald confirm that he has a distal injury on his left hamstring. His return to action with the first team will depend on his recovery.”

And according to Sport, it is assumed that the timeline for the recovery of Balke is 2-3 weeks. It means that he will miss upcoming matches against Borussia Dortmund, Celta Vigo and Mallorca, while he is classified as a big doubt to be able to undergo Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final, which takes place in La Cartuja in less than two weeks.

It would be terrible news for Barcelona to be for the Superclasico without a Bald. After a difficult start of the season, he has been one of the most consistent artists in the side of Hansi Flick since the beginning of 2025.

In the absence of Balde, it is expected that Gerard Martin is the player who calls Hansi Flick on the left. The 23-year-old has made 31 performances this season, and although he had a few bad versions along the way, he has been a largely reliable player for the La Liga leaders and that will have to remain the case in the coming weeks.
