OFFICIAL: Bentancur has been banned for seven matches and fined £100,000 by the FA for racist abuse of Son Heung-min
An independent regulatory commission has handed Rodrigo Bentancur a seven-match ban and a £100,000 fine for breaching FA rule E3 in relation to a media interview.
It was alleged that the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder had breached FA rule E3.1 by acting in an inappropriate manner and/or using abusive and/or insulting words and/or bringing the match into disrepute. It was further claimed that this would constitute an “aggravated infringement” as defined in FA Rule E3.2 because it contained a reference – express or implied – to nationality and/or race and/or ethnic origin.
