Andrews takes on the role that is part of the first team coaching staff of the bees since July 2024.

“Keith fits very well,” said director of Football Phil Giles.

“He can continue with everyone, he is very open and he is a student. Keith is clear in what he wants, he is detailed and the players and staff love and respect him.

“He understands the players in the building and the way we played and trained under Thomas Frank.

“Keith will bring his own evolution, but will not start all over again, so hopefully we can make some rapid progress.

“He is a very good coach and has clear ideas about how he wants the team to improve. We were looking for someone, not only to maintain what we did, but also to try to get better.”

Assistant coach Justin Cochrane, head of athletic performance Chris Haslam and first team analyst Joe Newton, joined Frank in Tottenham Hotspur.

With these vacancies, Giles added: “There is a lot of work going on what the team around Keith looks like. How do we assume what we had last year and they get better? That process is underway.

“We have to look at the mix of skills and experience. It is an exciting project to have these roles open together.

“We will build it over time and learn about strengths and weaknesses. We will build it step by step and get the right balance.”

Andrews joined Brentford in July 2024 as a set-piece coach and left Sheffield United, where he was part of the coaching setup under Chris Wilder.

Before that, the 44-year-old assistant manager of Stephen Kenny was during the three-year enchantment of the Dubliner as Boss of the Republic of Ireland (2020-2023) and served as assistant manager of MK Dons for the 2015/16 championship campaign.

A midfielder, Andrews, represented people like Wolverhampton Wanderers, Hull City, MK Dons and Blackburn Rovers during a 16-year-old play career that started in 1999.

Andrews earned 35 caps for Republic of Ireland and to be seen on UEFA Euro 2012.
