Arsenal has completed the signing of midfielder Christian Norgaard from Brentford in a deal with a value of a maximum of £ 15 million.
Norgaard has signed a two -year deal with the option of the third party and is the third signing of the club of the summer.
Sky Sports News reported last month that they agreed with a £ 15 million deal with Brentford to sign the defensive midfielder. That deal is split into a guaranteed £ 10 million plus £ 5 million in add-ons.
Brentford Captain Norgaard follows the arrivals of Chelsea -goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and real Sociedad -midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
The Gunners have also made Chelsea wing player Noni Madueke a top objective, while ahead of a movement for sporty CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal is also interested in Real Madrid -Vleugel player Rodrygo and Crystal Palace -midfielder Ebereechi Eze in what will be a crucial summer for Mikel Arteta.
Why Norgaard? What kind of rice now? The Midfieldbuild of Arsenal explained
Nick Wright analysis:
Norgaard is an atypical arsenal signing in terms of age. On 31 he offers little resale value. However, he helps to reduce the loss of Jorginho's experience. He goes to the Emirates Stadium and has collected 122 Premier League performances for Brentford.
His age means that he also comes for a relatively low compensation, reducing the financial risk of the deal and enables Arsenal to stop funds for the attacking recruits that are still needed.
Some supporters would like to do Arsenal for a younger, more exciting option with a higher ceiling. The 23-year-old midfielder Lucien Agoume of Sevilla reportedly considered alternative.
But Albert Sambi Lokonga, Agoume's teammate, while he is on loan in Seville last season, offers a warning story that the figure did not get in Arsenal. The club now has little chance to earn back the £ 15 million to sign him from other stitches in 2021.
Together with Fabio Vieira, a signing of £ 34 million from Porto, sent back to his old club last season, and Nuno Tavares, a signing of £ 8 million from Benfica who also struggled, helps to explain Lokonga why Arsenal now prefers Premier League-ready additions as Norgaar.
Norgaard follows Frank from a side door
The move from Norgaard to Arsenal has put an end to his six -year enchantment in Brentford.
He joined the West -London club from Fiorentina in May 2019 and became an important player for the bees in their promotion to the Premier League.
Norgaard was enormously influential among Thomas Frank, who left in June to become Tottenham head coach after seven impressive years in Brentford.
Brentford saw star player Bryan Mbeumo follow their manager and captain the door.
There remains a gap in appreciation, but United is not far away from the total compensation that Brentford wants – which is assumed to be £ 65 million – but there is still work to be done on the structure, because the West -London club wants the majority, if not all, of the reimbursement in advance.
Keith Andrews has appointed a summer of change in the Gtech Community stage as the new head coach of the club.
Brentford spoke with a number of high -profile managers from all over Europe, but chose someone who knows the club and their systems, and they believe that Andrews can become a top head coach who joined Frank last year.
