MILAN – FC Internazionale Milano can confirm that an agreement has been reached on the extension of Denzel Dumfries' contract: the 28-year-old wing defender has signed a contract that runs until June 30, 2028.
Denzel Dumfries and Inter together until 2028. The Dutch winger has become a key figure in Simone Inzaghi's tactical setup. His journey continues with determination after three years, during which he has played 147 matches and scored 13 goals.
During these seasons in Nerazzurri colors, Dumfries has shown immense physical strength and a remarkable eye for goal. His story is one of ambition, knowing his worth and striving to prove it to the world. Always looking to improve, he dedicates himself completely to the team, a mentality that has been ingrained since his youth. Dumfries' willpower has been his defining characteristic, even as a teenager. Until he was seventeen, he played for amateur club Barendrecht, near Rotterdam, where he was born in 1996. His breakthrough came in the 2014/15 season when he signed for Sparta Rotterdam, which marked his professional debut. His ruthless performance down the right wing quickly became his trademark. In 2017 he moved to Heerenveen and just a year later he joined PSV, where he cemented his status and earned his dream call-up to the Dutch national team.
Dumfries joined Inter in the summer of 2021, becoming the eleventh Dutch player in the club's history. He made his Serie A debut in a 4–0 win over Genoa. His first goal came in Rome, sealing a 3-0 win against the Giallorossi. By the end of the season, Dumfries had scored five league goals and lifted his first two trophies with Inter: the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia, both won in the final against Juventus.
In his second year at Inter, Dumfries scored twice and delivered eye-catching performances. He played a crucial role in securing consecutive domestic cup victories and helping the team reach the Champions League final.
Last season, Dumfries played an important role in winning the Scudetto of the Second Star. His contributions in both attack and defense were crucial to the fluidity of Inter's game. Crucially, his three goals against Cagliari, Sassuolo and Salernitana forever etched his name in Inter history as he reached 100 appearances for the club.
This season has started well for Dumfries: the Dutchman scored against Monza and Juventus and played fifteen games in all competitions. And now the story continues.
