Nottingham Forest is pleased to announce the signing of Douglas Luiz, who joins Juventus.
The Brazilian joins a first season loan, with a conditional obligation to become a permanent deal next summer.
The midfielder spends a year in Italy and brings a wealth of experience with Forest in the Champions League for Juventus during his spell in Turin.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Luiz started his career at Vasco da Gama, where he attracted the attention of Manchester City, who drew Luiz in 2017. After two years on loan in Spain with Girona, he then moved to Aston Villa in 2019 where he would play one to play more than 200 times for the Villans.
A central midfielder who is able to play as a deep lying number six or as a more progressive eight, Luiz has an impressive target contribution in England, scores 22 times and registers 24 assists in Claret and Blue.
After a striking year in 2023/23 for Villa, Luiz was elected both Supporter's player of the season and player player of the season.
Luiz has also played 18 times for his national team and won a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in August 2021.
Everyone in Forest welcomes Douglas in the forest family – wishes him the best for the coming season.
When signing the deal, Luiz said: “I am really happy to be here, it is a big club and I decided to come here because I can see the ambition the club has. I am so excited to start with the team and do my best for the shirt and the fans.”
Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson, said: “In recent weeks it has been a very busy but successful period for us in the window, and Douglas is a different addition to the team that will bring the group of considerable quality.
“He plays at the highest level for a long time, understands the demands of the Premier League and has experience with playing elite European competition. We are delighted that Douglas is now becoming a member of the group, and we are sure that he will be warmly welcomed by everyone in Nottingham Forest.”
