PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma (26) has been taken to Instagram to announce his upcoming exit of the Ligue 1 side. The Italy International issued a statement on social media on Tuesday evening, on the eve of the UEFA Super Cup game between PSG and Tottenham Hotspur. Donnarumma has been omitted from the Luis Enrique team, because the winners of the Champions League signed the international goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier of France from Lille in a deal of € 55 million.
Chevalier has joined Les Parisiens to become their undisputed starter, despite the performance of Donnarumma last season. Speaking with Sky Italia, Luis Enrique confirmed that he decided to continue with Chevalier, excluding Donnarumma of the team. The winner of the Euro 2020 at Italy has started the last months of his contract. In his statement, a “discouraged and disappointed” Donnarumma threw a clear shadow in Luis Enrique, adding that someone has decided that he can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the success of the team. According to reports, Donnarumma is a target for Manchester City.
