Brighton & Hove Albion have confirmed that goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen has completed a permanent transfer to the Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, awaiting approvals from the regulatory authorities. The financial conditions of the deal will not be announced.

Goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen has completed a permanent move to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, on unknown conditions, subject to approvals of the regulations.
Scherpen, 25, spent on loan last season with Sturm Graz, where he made 36 performances in the Austrian Bundesliga and Champions League.
He came to Ajax in July 2021 and was released in January 2022 in the FA Cup in January 2022 against West Brom. He then had Leen Proverbs with Ostend and Vitesse Arnhem.
Technical director David Weir said: “Kjell is at the stage of his career where he wants a permanent move, and this is a great opportunity for him in a club that won the Belgian competition last season.
“We thank him for his services and wish him the very best for the future.”
