The National Team of Qatar has announced that former Real Madrid Baas Julen Lopetegui draws as their new coach.
Qatar had settled on Julen Lopetegui after not reaching an agreement with Christophe Galtier for the Qatari coaching position. It is not surprising that the Spaniard, who is free agent, officially signed on Thursday 1 May.
“The Qatar Football Association has officially announced the appointment of the Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui as the new head coach of the Qatar National Team, who succeeded his colleague -spanage Luis Garcia in this position,” said the Qatari Association's statement. Lopetegui has signed a contract until 2027.
The Basque coach accepts a challenge to qualify the National Team of Qatar for 2026 World Cup.
