Manchester City announces that Claudio Echeverri has joined Bayer Leverkusen for the 2025/26 season.

The Argentinian midfielder signed for the city in January 2024, but remained on loan on River Plate until February 2025 when he joined the Pep Guardiola team.
It followed a striking U-20 South American Championship campaign, where he led Argentina to second place, and a breakthrough in the first team of the river plate, including 48 senior performances before moving to the Etihad stage.
The teenager played twice for the men of Pep Guardiola before the end of the last domestic campaign and made his debut with a lively Cameo in our FA Cup -define defeat against Crystal Palace in Wembley.
He followed that with another replacement appearance on the last day of the Premier League season in Fulham, while City insured a top three -finish.
The first goal of Echeverri for the blues would follow this summer when he curled a wonderful free kick against Al-Aas in Atlanta in our FIFA Club World Cup campaign.
He was forced during the break an injury, but his performance gave an exciting indication of the bright future of the young person.
The 19-year-old will now gain a further first teaching experience in the German Bundesliga with Leverkusen.
