OFFICIAL: Mourinho banned for three games after bust-up with Galatasaray boss

Jose Mourinho has received a ban from three games through the Turkish football federation (TFF) for grabbing opposition manager Okan Buruk's face at the end of Fenerbahce's 2-1 Turkish Cup defeat against Rivals Galatasaray.

Mourinho seemed to squeeze Buruk's nose after the last whistle, where the Galatasaray boss fell on the field and kept his face in his hands.

Buruk lay on his back when the former Chelsea and Manchester United -Baas Mourinho were towed away from the remarkable flash point.

Mourinho, who also received a fine of about £ 6,000 for what the TFF described as “unsporting behavior”, is now set to miss important games against Trabzonspor, SivassSpor and Kayserispor, with Fenerbahce six points behind Galatasaray at the top of the Turkish super -free with a game in a game.

The incident happened after Mourinho had just seen his side crashing in the quarterfinals of the Turkish cup after Victor Osimhen Galatasaray on his way to the victory sent with a first half double.

Sebastian Szymanski pulled one back for the hosts in the break, but Buruk's side saw the poorly slumed victory, in which three players were sent in a stop time.

Mert Hakan was fired for Fenerbahce, with Kerem Demirbay and Baris Alper Yilmaz who also saw red for the visitors.

In addition to Mourinho, Yilmaz and Demirbay, as well as Fenerbahce player Fred, transferred three games. Fenerbahce's Hakan is also suspended for one competition.

Fenerbahce completely behind Mourinho

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News' Gary Cotterill, Fenerbahce board member Fethi Pekin gave his full support to Mourinho and said that the club hired the Portuguese boss to increase the bar.

“Now, let me be absolutely clear, Fenerbahce did not bring Jose Mourinho here to keep the status quo. We brought him here to disturb it,” he told Sky Sports News.

“Mourinho represents everything that this club strives for. Ambition, courage and a ruthless desire to win.

“He does not lose as an option.

“He is not here to coach 90 minutes of football. He is here to build a winning culture, and sometimes that means a talk and standing firmly in the light of provocation.

“What happened in the recent Derby match was not just a football rivement. It was a orchestrated attempt to provoke our bank, our team, our players and our manager.

“Mourinho reacted with a fire in himself and resist someone who refuses to be intimidated. And let me say this very, very, very clearly like Fenerbahce's council, we are completely behind Jose Mourinho.

“We have not hired Mourinho to adapt to this system.

“We hired him to lift the bar. And lifting the bar makes people uncomfortable. That's fine. We are not here to play according to old rules.”
