Newcastle has confirmed the signing of Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa in a £ 39 million deal.
Ramsey has been in Villa since the age of six, but the financial position of the club with regard to UEFA expenditure rules meant that his sale, as a graduated academy, was necessary.
The package comprises another £ 4 million in add-ons, with the midfielder becoming the fourth summer of Newcastle after signing a long-term agreement.
He told the official site of the Magpies: 'I am very happy to be here. It has been a madman for two or three days, but I am really happy to be here and I can't wait to get started.
'This is a big move for me, but as soon as I knew that the Gaffer was interested and really liked me, it didn't take much time to decide. His track record of developing players, especially those who have become internationals here, speaks for himself.
'It was always a tough game that played against Newcastle for Villa – the team is full of energy, so athletic and the fans are so passionate. I feel that my game fits and I am excited to be there now on the other side. '
Ramsey also said goodbye to Villa fans in a length -post on Instagram.
He wrote: 'It is impossible to put into words what playing for Aston Villa has meant for me. From a young fan in the hollow one to the life of my dream and scoring for it.
'This club has been an extensive family for me and I have memories for life -by making my Premier League debut, experiencing Champions League nights back in Villa Park and scoring my first goals in those competitions.
'To everyone at Aston Villa, both at the Academy and in the first team, thank you for your support, faith and guidance. You helped me to become the person and player I am today. I played with some of the best and made friends for life.
'And finally to the fans – thanks for love and support. You represent, like a boy from Birmingham, has been an absolute honor. '

Ramsey went through the Academy of Villa before making his senior debut in 2019.
He then made 167 performances in all matches for the club and scored 17 goals.
