The Premier League has announced that this summer it will have two transfers players to have Manchester City and Chelsea signs signed before the Club World Cup.
The window will be opened between Sunday, June 1 and Tuesday 10 June and then close five days before they run again from Monday 16 June to Monday 1 September.
This summer, the first extensive FIFA Club World Cup contains, in which 32 teams are involved and assumes the format of the regular World Cup of recent years.
Chelsea and Manchester City are the Premier League teams in the tournament that takes place in the United States from Sunday 15 June.
But the Premier League can only have 12 weeks of a summer window – hence the five -day break to make it run until 1 September.
FIFA has allowed to register new players for the club World Cup on 1-10 June, and again from 27 June-3 July for the knockout phase.
Why does this happen?
First, to give order to the global registration system, World Government Body FIFA only allows the transfer window in an individual country to be open for 16 weeks in a calendar year.
In Europe, the precedent dictates that four of those weeks are before the winter window, leaving 12 in the summer. In 2024, the Premier League transfant star was opened on 14 June and closed on 30 August.
In October, however, FIFA approved an extra window of 1-10 June, making the 32 clubs that participated in the Club World Cup to register new players before the tournament.
It also agreed to open a registration name, half tournament, from 27 June and 3 July, to enable clubs to register extra players for the knockout phase.
In addition to Manchester City and Chelsea, European heavyweights Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Juventus, Paris St-Germain, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Saudi Arabia al-Hilal play in the tournament.
To ensure that Manchester City and Chelsea had no advantage over the other 18 top air clubs, the Premier League has adopted the same window.
However, 12 weeks from June 1 is August 24. The Premier League wanted to be tailored to the rest of the major competitions of Europe around when the summer window is closed. Those competitions preferred to close the window at the end of August, so that meant that the window had to close and open again.
