OFFICIAL: PSG & Monaco to play Trophée des Champions tie in Qatar

The LFP Administrative Council has approved plans to play this season's Trophée des Champions, which will be contested between holders Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco, in Doha, Qatar.

Last year the match, which would normally take place before the start of the competition season, was heavily postponed. The match, in which PSG took on Toulouse FC, was won by the former at the Parc des Princes in January. Like last year, this year's edition, which sees the winner of Ligue 1 and the winner of the Coupe de France face each other in a one-off match, has been postponed.

The match was planned to be played in China, but for diplomatic reasons that option was canceled at a relatively advanced stage. The idea of playing it at the Stade Louis II in Monaco was also touted, but that avenue was abandoned. Since the postponement was announced in July, the Trophée des Champions has not been given a new date or location.

However, a time and date has now been found. The competition will be held in Doha on January 5, 2025. It is believed that the event will raise approximately €3 million for the LFP, part of which will be redistributed between the two competing teams. As a result of this decision, the Ligue 1 match between PSG and Monaco, which was due to take place on the same weekend, has been brought forward to December 18, 2024.
