According to the official statement, Ruben Dias has signed a new four -year contract to bind his future to Manchester City.
The defender has been an important part of our recent success and this new agreement holds him in the club until the summer of 2029.
He came to City from his boys' club Benfica in September 2020 and has become a rock in the center of our defense.
During his five seasons at Etihad Stadium, Dias has made more than 200 performances for City and won nine trophies, including four Premier League titles and a Champions League, collected a large number of individual prizes along the way.
“I am incredibly happy today,” said the 28-year-old.
“I am so proud to represent this great club. City is where I want to be – at the top of the sport, competitive to trophies. The ambition of the club fits perfectly with mine and as a football player there is nothing better than that.
“I love Manchester – it's my home now – and I love the fans of Manchester City. Their support of the day one has been absolutely incredible and I appreciate them a lot.
“When I think of the trophies we have won and the way we played our football during my time here, I couldn't imagine that I would play somewhere else.
“My job is now to be the best I can be for the duration of this contract, so that I can play my role in helping us help for more silverware.
“I want to thank my teammates, Pep, Hugo, the coaching staff and everyone at the club. This is such a special place and I am grateful every day for the support I receive.
“Now the hard work starts, and I want to promise the fans that I will give everything to win more trophies and bring more success in the city.”
Director of Voetbal Hugo Viana added: “As a club, we are very enthusiastic that Ruben has signed a new contract and committed his future to the club in the long term.
