Thomas Müller officially announced on his Instagram that he will not receive a new contract from Munich. This brings the time of the Bayern Legend with the club to the end of the season.

After a lot of speculation about me recently, I want to take the opportunity to clarify things with this letter. Even after all these years, regardless of my playing minutes, I am still a lot of fun standing on the field with the boys and I fight together for titles for our colors. I could also have easily presented myself in this role next year.
However, the club has made a conscious decision not to negotiate a new contract with me for next season. Even if this was not in accordance with my personal wishes, it is important that the club follows its beliefs. I respect this step, which has certainly not taken the board of directors and supervisory council lightly.
Understandably, I found it back and forth not in public in recent weeks and months. However, I feel the same about this as I am on my football game: it was not always characterized by perfection, but rather by thinking positively ahead of the next action. After a bad pass you have to regain the ball with Team Unity. We have succeeded in doing this in recent days in trust discussions.
I can feel the appreciation of all involved for my long time at @fcbayern and feel deeply fun playing my favorite club for 25 incredibly intense years. I will be connected to FC Bayern forever and together with you through so many great moments.
Now my full focus is on our sports goals for the season. It would be a dream that comes out for me to bring the championship trophy back home and to reach the long -awaited last Dahoam at the end of May. I will give everything for that!
