OFFICIAL: Xabi Alonso to leave Bayer Leverkusen at end of season

On May 9, Bayer Leverkusen-Manager Xabi Alonso officially announced in a press conference before the game prior to their collision with Borussia Dortmund that he will leave the club at the end of the season.

Alonso stated: “The club and I agreed that these next two games will be my last as Bayer Leverkusen manager.”

Since the management in October 2022, Alonso has managed 139 competitions for Leverkusen, with 89 victories, 31 draws and 18 losses – a profit percentage of 64.4%. Under his leadership, Leverkusen has won the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal and the German Super Cup.

According to Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano, Alonso's step is to become Real Madrid's new head coach in the final phase. His contracts are said to be ready, Leverkusen does not stand in the way and they have already started the search for his successor.
