Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has unveiled the one player that he “upset” sold that Manchester United and suggested that they were an “important” member of the team.
The Norwegian, who was mentioned as Besiktas manager last month, spent three years in the United Dugout before he was fired in 2021.
Despite his clumsy departure from the club where he also spent 11 seasons as a player, Solskjaer admitted that he is still looking forward to the results of the Red Devils.
When asked if he still looks at their games, he said to athletics: “When I can. It is still good to see Bruno Fernandes and Harry [Maguire] it does well.
And scotty [McTominay] Napoli is doing well. I am upset that we let him go because he was important last season when he kept popping up with goals.
“His heart and his knowledge of culture were important.”
Scotland International McTominay left United for Serie A Side Napoli in the summer and enjoyed a stunning campaign, so that they are at the top of the competition table.
After he had become the most expensive Scot ever in a summer movement of £ 26 million, he showed United what they are missing and scored seven goals in all competitions.
While McTominay has reached new heights on Italian soil, United has gone away in the lower half of the competition table and currently 14th.
Questions have been asked about the tactics chosen by Ruben Amorim, after he has lost eight of his 16 league games since he had taken the lead at Old Trafford.
In an attempt to dissect the current problems at United, Solskjaer, whether they should be patient with the Portuguese boss.
He replied: 'That is for the people at the top (from United), but a problem is that the manager plays with the players of the previous manager.
'I just remember a great time in United, apart from the past six weeks. Great people – and the culture is in the people. Going back to United was when going back to my family, as if I had never been gone.
'But Besiktas also feels like a family club, with respect for each other. There are staff who are already 10, 20, 30 years old here '.
United Stars is said to be furious with Ruben Amorim, but are not yet close enough for their manager to air their grievances with him.
The pressure valve was released a bit at Old Trafford after Wednesday's 3-2 victory on Ipswich that man United dragged in the Premier League table until 14th.
But outside the field it was again a terrible week for the club. On Monday, CEO Omar Berrada confirmed that up to 200 employees could lose their jobs.
Now the sun reports that those comments have caused disharmony in the dressing room of Man United.
A source said to the sun: 'If you were to go Carrington to Carrington, you would think that the players and Amorim love it. But the truth is that the players are frustrated because they are blamed for the financial problems of the club.
'However, they did not challenge the manager because they have not yet formed a bond with him.
