The striker scored as Aston Villa Sankk Top-Vijf Rivals Newcastle-Vier days after they gave birth to their defeat by Paris Saint-Germain.
On the snub of Boss Unai Emery, Watkins said: “I was messing around that I didn't play after I played PSG for 20 minutes in both games.
“I told him that. He is the manager and I respect his decision.
“But I am not one of those players who like to sit on the couch.
“Instead of being hindered, you must use that anger and encourage you to prove the manager differently.
“I was for a few games from the team, so today I was over to go and I didn't let that chance slip.
“The manager is going to have a headache while I hit the door asking why I don't play.”
Watkins scored after just 33 seconds and set the crucial second goal of Villa in the route.
The men of Emery are sixth in the table, level at points with Nottingham Forest in the fifth and two points in the third placed tone.
This victory followed their painful output to PSG and Emery praised the inspiring performance of Watkins.
Spanish Gaffer Emery said: “Being angry is fantastic. It's fantastic to play the way he did today is fantastic.
“He also helped us last week. On Tuesday he played 20 minutes.
“His dedication is always high to get at its best and this is what we want and need.
“This morning I spoke with some players about how they feel. It is a really important moment to find our best.”
On their quarter -final Exit to PSG, Emery added: “We have to feel angry if we don't win.
“Of course we enjoyed the Champions League – we have to be proud of our efforts, but we have lost.
“I am very proud of how the players responded.”
Jason Tindall, in Interim -in -Tone, while Eddie Howe recovers from pneumonia, admitted that his team was well defeated.
After a prem extraction streak of five games, he said: “It was a difficult evening.
“The first half I thought we did well from the back of the early setback.
“Maybe it was a step too far and three games in six days was too physically for the players.”
