Barcelona appear to be entering an institutional crisis in terms of live performances after La Liga issued a statement saying the club had failed to sign deals that would allow them to register new players. It has put Dani Olmo and Pau Victor in a difficult situation.
Both have been removed from La Liga's website and replaced by Andreas Christensen, who they replaced due to an emergency injury rule. Barcelona claim they will be registered, but as things stand, neither will be able to play for Barcelona for the rest of the season.
When the new year arrived, Olmo posted a photo with his partner that simply said 2025 with blue and red love hearts next to it, referencing the colors of Barcelona. Underneath that post, teammate Inigo Martinez posted a clock emoji, referencing Olmo's celebration that mimicked Dame Lillard's in the NBA. Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal commented, “dani olmo is a culerrrrr.”
Sport say both players have resigned themselves to waiting and hope Barcelona keep their promise that they will be registered. However, both agents will now have to look at alternative options for the second half of the season, even though they are both keen to stay at the club. In Olmo's case in particular, he has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for free and be paid out of his full €48 million contract if he is not registered.
