Olmo’s agent Bara says client will stay at Barca despite registration issue

Dani Olmo's agent, Andy Bara, has confirmed that the Spain international will remain at Barcelona despite a second appeal over his registration being rejected.

Olmo joined Barca from RB Leipzig for a fee of £50 million, but with the club unable to meet LaLiga's wage cap he was only registered for the first half of the season.

After their first attempt to register the Spaniard was rebuffed, Barcelona's Court of First Instance 47 also denied the club's approval for Olmo's registration.

The latest developments mean Barcelona could lose Olmo on a free transfer in January, with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United reportedly interested.

Olmo reportedly included a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave Camp Nou for free if the club were unable to sign him due to financial constraints.

Barcelona is doing its best to sell VIP seats for their new stadium to raise money and get approval for Olmo's registration.

It would reportedly raise around £82.9 million, allowing them to renew the registration of Olmo and his teammate Pau Victor, who is in a similar situation.

Amid uncertainty surrounding his client's future, Olmo's agent Bara revealed that the Spaniard will remain at Camp Nou regardless of the outcome of the situation.

“Dani's decision is to stay at Barcelona because he wants to play for Barcelona. We are not considering any other option. Dani wants to play for Barcelona,” Bara said.

Barcelona also confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that the club had applied for a new license to register both Olmo and Victor.

“FC Barcelona announces that it has applied for a new license for players Daniel Olmo and Pau Victor from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF),” they said.

“The club would like to deny that it has applied for or received any moratorium on these registrations from any governing body.”
