Osasuna consider contesting Barcelona defeat due to ineligible player – report

Barcelona rode a 3-0 win over Osasuna in Montjuic on Thursday evening and achieved three points on title rivals Real Madrid and Zeven for Atletico Madrid. For Los Rojillo it remained a miserable form of form, but they are considering disputing the result based on a FIFA regulation.

The Blaugrana victory took place in controversial circumstances, where the game had reared less than 48 hours after Raphinha for Barcelona and Enzo Boyomo for Osasuna for Osasuna, while Ronald Araajo also returned with the Brazilian and arrived on Wednesday afternoon. After the game, Jules Kounde Kounde and the other administrative bodies criticized for their 'lack of respect' for the players, while Hansi Flick had also complained about the planning. Braulio Vazquez, sports director of Osasuna, was also critical of the decision to organize the game on Thursday, and Barcelona paid the prize with an injury to Dani Olmo in the first half.

However, the player who could possibly cost Barcelona was not the game in international action. Inigo Martinez suffered a bruised knee against Atletico Madrid before the international break and therefore took off the Spain team. According to Cadena Cope, Osasuna is considering challenging the result, due to a FIFA regulation that any player that is injured cannot play in international matches in the five days after the last international match of that window.

In the case of Spain they played on Sunday evening, which means that there were only four days between when Martinez could have been in action for La Roja, and when he returned to action for the Spain side. The most important detail depends on whether the Royal Spanish football federation (RFEF) freed him from international duty when they sent him home. Barcelona believes that the case will not come up and is calm about the situation.

It is certainly true that the Spain manager Luis de la Fuente stated that Martinez was injured and both Barcelona and Spain sent statements. Osasuna can have a case based on the regulations. However, it would only add more fuel to the already fiery frustration of the Blaugrana if they lost points by throwing a player in a game that they didn't want to play so quickly.
