Osasuna file complaint against Barcelona due to ineligible player

After reports that noticed that Los Rojillo was considering taking action, Osasuna confirmed that they have filed a complaint about Barcelona who hired an unabitable player during their night during their night. They call a FIFA regulation that in theory would prevent Inigo Martinez from occurring in the game.

The match ended in a 3-0 win for Barcelona, thanks to goals from Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski, but the presence of Martinez was in violation of the FIFA regulations, which could lead to sanctions, a point deduction or Osasuna who was given a 3-0 win. Martinez was diagnosed with a knee injury before the international break and withdrew from the Spain team. According to FIFA regulations, players cannot play in the five days after the last game for their country in a window if they missed it due to injury.

Barcelona is said to be relaxed about the situation, as detailed by Sport, with reference to two failed earlier complaints. One in 2004, with RCD Mallorca, who exceeds the presence of John Aloisi for Osasuna, where his exit of the national team was announced on the same day of the competition. In 2006, Espanyol filed a similar complaint against Barcelona for the use of Xavi Hernandez and Carles Puyol na Spain obligation, both of which were rejected.

There is a reservation of the rule, where as clubs and the federation agree to release a player, they can then for the club. The Royal Spanish football federation (RFEF) has reportedly made it clear that this was the case.

Nevertheless, Osasuna has explained the basis of their argument. Osasuna wing player Bryan Zaragoza joined the Spain Squad and was released after investigation, while Martinez and Marc Casado do not join the Spain team in Las Rozas. Gerard Martin, Pablo Torre and Fermin Lopez released the under-21 side, but that decision was not medically related, while the the absence of Martinez was medical. The decision has now been set to go to a Federation Tribunal, that will evaluate their claims.
