Ousmane Dembélé set to return to PSG starting XI against Bayern Munich?

Ousmane Dembélé could stand in line to return to the Paris Saint-Germain who starts XI while the French champions this Saturday opposite Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the club World Cup (18:00 CET, Atlanta).

The 27-year-old winger made his comeback of a dijing injury last weekend in PSG's 4-0 win over Inter Miami and played 20 minutes from the bank. It was his first appearance since picking up a quadriceps lesion during the 2-1 victory of France on Spain on June 6.

According to the physical coach Alexandre Dellal, Dembélé has followed a strict recovery plan that has been coordinated by PSG's medical staff in an interview with RMC Sport: “He had to restore his ability to repeat efforts in the intensity and achieve the top speed. He is right on schedule after three weeks of the signs are good.”

After using the start of the week to undergo extra treatment, Dembélé resumed full training with the group on Thursday morning. While Luis Enrique had refused to rush him back for the previous game in Seattle (2-0), the staff now consider him an option to start.

“He was a bit tired at the end, but generally looked good,” said teammate Bradley Barcola after the Miami match. “It's great to have him back.”

Asked if Dembélé could start against Bayern, Dellal added: “It would not surprise me. He could start or play for 30 to 45 minutes. With a full week of training it is the perfect timing.” GFFN | George Boxall
