Outgoing Real Madrid coach expected to be appointed as Schalke 04 manager

In the summer it is certain that Real Madrid Castilla will look for a new head coach, with Raul Gonzalez expecting to leave his role when his contract ended. The 47-year-old club legend has held the position since 2019, but after six years he will continue to Weiden NEW.

Alvaro Arbeloa, who is currently in charge of the U19 side of Real Madrid, is expected to succeed Raul, and he is seen as a possible future head coach of the first team – this is something that Raul was not seen, which is one of the reasons why he will be moved in the summer.

In recent years, Raul has regularly been associated with making the step to manage in professional football, so it would be expected that he would not fall short of offers as soon as he leaves Real Madrid. And at this stage it seems likely that he could immediately step into his next job when ending his stay in the Spanish capital.

As reported by Bild (via Ed), Schalke wants to name Schalke 04 Raul as their next manager. In recent weeks there have been more contacts between officials from the German club and the entourage of the Castilla head coach. It is stated that if he was appointed, he “would have complete powers in the preparation of the team and direct decision -making”.

Raul is familiar with Schalke and at the end of his gaming career spent two seasons on the then Bundesliga side. He has been a beloved figure since that spell and that is why he has regularly been in the mind of club officials with regard to becoming their head coach.

For the time being, Raul will be aimed at ending the season at a peak with Castilla, but soon he will have to start with the right attention to his future.
