Paddy Pimblett explains why he left Ilia Topuria out of list of potential opponents following UFC 314

One of the biggest names in sport is the lightweight title photo taken after an eventful evening in Miami.

Paddy Pimblett made a statement with his dominant victory over Michael Chandler in the CO-Main event in the Kaseya Center for UFC 314.

Despite sharing a heated exchange with Colby Covington Backstage, Pimblett has already included on the list of opponents that he encounters next time.

Former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira is the preferred option of Pimblett, but there is another potential candidate who did not mention 'The Baddy' on 12 April.

The controversial star could arrange a long-term feud now one of its greatest rivals, Ilia Topuria, has joined the 155 pound ranks after leaving the featherweight title.

Paddy Pimblett says he forgot ilia Topuria 'irrelevant' during his interview after the fight

Paddy Pimblett and Ilia Topuria have developed a rivalry in recent years that dates from a heated meeting between them in London three years ago.

With both men unbeaten in the Octagon, a potential matchup between them at lightweight would be absolutely huge and it is now at a moving distance.

While Pimblett mentioned the will of Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira in his interview after the fight, Topuria was surprisingly omitted from the shooting line.

'The Baddy' was asked about this in his press conference after winning the biggest victory of his career to date to enter the top 10 of the division.

He said that in the near future he would be more than happy to face 'La Leyenda', but he just forgot him in the focus of his next movement on 155 pounds.

It is currently familiar with who Topuria will be confronted since he goes to the lightweight division, where both Oliveira and the champion Islam Makhachev are two main goals.

“To be honest, I forgot him. I forgot everything about him or I would have called him in the cage, know what I mean. I no longer call the man 'sanitizer boy' anymore, he is now 'el chorizo', but as I say, I am literally waiting about him.

Paddy Pimblett believes that he has defeated Ilia Topuria in a similar way as his victory over Michael Chandler

Although two judges gave Michael Chandler the first round on the score cards, Paddy Pimblett became more and more dominant the longer the fight lasted.

He answered many questions in what many believed would be his most difficult test to date, but 'The Baddy' is convinced that he could replicate this performance against Ilia Topuria.

In his press conference, Pimblett said after the fight that he would defeat the former featherweight champion in the same way, in particular referring to the height of Topuria after he looked at UFC 314 in a remarkable physical form.

“What I just did with Chandler is half the blueprint to beat him. He is even more a dwarf than Chandler. I will do exactly the same with Ilia than what I have done Chandler, but as I say, everyone can get it, all the names I mentioned.”
